RCA CTC-130 Shuts down after being on for 15mins

J

John

Hello,

I have a RCA Colortrak Television that has worked for years but is
recently showning its age.

The television will work fine for 15 minutes and then automatically
turn itself off. To turn it back on the power button on the television
needs to be pushed twice. Once the television powers on, the picture
is nearly 100% white, with pink horizontal lines running across it.
This behavior will continue for a few seconds until the television
shuts down again.

The chassis number is CTC-130.

I am a total novice with television repair, but am eager to take a
stab at fixing this one.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sincerely,

John M.

There is a part(s), most likely in the CRT biasing circuits that have become
thermo sensitive, and when heats up, it fails or goes too far off value. It
is also possible that the high voltage multiplier can cause this, and also
the CRT itself.

You would be best off to have an experienced service tech, who has the
training and tools, to give you an estimate for you to be able to make an
intelligent decision if the set should be serviced or not.
