Questions cable controls snes

the cables of my Snes controls are dry and stiff. is there a chemical product to return the cable flexibility?

No, unfortunately there isn't. And if it somehow existed such a substance, how should you get it applied into the whole volume of rubber and not just the surface ?

Make a small loop in the cable and soak it in acetone as a test; works for me. Save the used acetone to clean paint brushes with.

The plasticizer has probably evaporated from the cable.
Watch out with acetone.
Acetone might dissolve the plastic.

Yes It may dissolve the plastic at the connectors. One can get cable extensions for 8$ and splice them in for new cables perhaps?

You could try an automotive vinyl/rubber conditioner product, but if it's vinyl and had significant UV (sun) exposure, it may eventually crack apart no matter what you do except to avoid flexing it much.

lol, I'd try the vinyl conditioner first because once you put that on, nothing else is getting into the pores. That is more of a protectant than a conditioner.

This vinyl conditioner product is difficult to find in Brazil is it very different from silicone gel? how is it working

I know nothing about Brazilian Auto Parts stores, but any with a good stock of products should have an entire wall devoted to cleaning and conditioning products. Amazon.com.br appears to have Mother's Vinyl & Rubber Care, perhaps other suitable products too. Normally a conditioner would have propylene glycol in addition to silica gel.

were you able to recover dry rubber and plastic cables using this product? are they flexible again?

There is no forever. Follow best practices or don't but the worst thing to do is waste time while time still has its way...
