Proximity sensor issue

I have a proximity sensor that is used to reset the robot arm that I have designed. The sensor is triggered to function when the obstacle let us say my hand is moved closer to it to block the sunlight, then it will pick signals and share them with the PLC to control the robot arm and move it to the original point. The robot arm is designed to move boxes from one point to the other. So, on resetting the robot arm using the sensor, sometimes it functions as expected but a time is being formed to use the manual button to reset it. What might be the issue, is it the sensor or the OLC program failure?

Does sensor have noisy output, and PLC not using hysteresis to help
eliminate this ? PLC Power supply "clean", unused inputs managed
with pullups and/or code ?

Regards, Dana.
