protocol for connecting sensors

Hi,
how it is possible to connect multiple sensors and create a network of them? The media is wire and they should send their data to pc.

what sort of sensors ?
what is their output ? data ? varying voltage? or just a relay contact switched on and off ?

give us some more info on what you are trying to achieve

temperature, humidity, acceleration,... sensors.
I found 1-Wire sensors from DS. however it seems that only temperature sensor is available from DS. My question is, can I change a normal humidity sensor to become 1-Wire?

I also found that Ethernet protocol is rather complicated for this aim.
