Problems with Navico corus windset

P

Peter

I have a Navico Corus windset. It does not work anymore. Before I send it
to
the manufactory I want to measure if there is a problem with the windset or
the cable. Who knows what I can measure on the cable(colors) or windset? Is
there a scematic on the internet?
Thanks Peter

Peter, does anyone else have a Navico Corus in your marina you can use to
test your display head? It's usually just a matter of taking your display
to his boat and plugging it in to test it on his masthead unit. Once you
confirm your display is working on someone else's boat, you can order the
replacement masthead unit. Look around the masts and find your matching
masthead unit and ask the owner if you can try it.

Are you sure there are no splices or terminal blocks between the display
and the masthead anemometer? On our boat, the B&G Network Wind instrument
came with the boat and I determined the masthead anemometer was the
problem. But, after buying a new one (now stored as a spare), I started
trying to find the wires in the mast cabling to pull the new cable in and
discovered the idiot who had the boat had spliced the cable with an open
terminal block down under the cabin sole in the bilge, where the wet just
rotted the terminals until the wires no longer made contact properly.
Resplicing the wires properly and sealing them up forever cured the
problem, saving us a lot of rewiring throughout the boat.

I'm in the same boat, so to speak. Navico is out of bussiness, Simran
bought them out but dosen't do any work on Navico parts and has n
parts.

The cable is just a couple of twisted pairs. You can just check i
with an ohm meter. The windset can be tested by using another cable t
your display head.

If you decide to abandon your Navico instraments I might be intereste
in buying some parts to keep my system going.
