Powering a linear actuator with a battery

The battery should be suitable for infrequent use of the actuator.
Since the actuator draws 3A, theoretically the battery would discharge completely in 2.3/3 hrs = 46 mins. However, it is bad for the battery to discharge it completely, so in practice a run time of 30 mins would be more reasonable. Note that the actuator has a rated duty cycle of 20%.
 
Also is it a problem if i use a 7ah battery to power a 3ah motor ?
There is no such thing as a 3Ah motor. You are confusing Amps with Amp-Hrs.
The 7Ah battery will be fine to power the actuator for much longer than the 2.3Ah one. The actuator will draw just the current it needs, namely 3A.
 
I see thank you, im sorry to ask silly questions im not very familiar with electronics... The linear actuator needs 12V DC but all batteries produce DC current am I right ?
 
All batteries produce DC. The link in post #8 lists several different modules. Make sure you get the 12V module.
 
If you're talking about the 12V relay board in the post #8 link, then it looks like battery positive goes to Vin and battery negative goes to Gnd.
