Power Supply with 12V and 10A or 5A

Hi guys.
I'm trying to build a power supply to use like station of galvanisation at home.

But i never built one power supply, because i haven't the great part of required components. But now i want to try.

Maybe will be a good progress to me and will be usefull.

A complete rectified power supply if can i call it.
I already know that i will need:

Transformers ( i have one with 230 to 12.5 1200mA and another with 230 to 18 220mA).
Rectify diodes 1N4001.
LM358.
Capacitors.

I don't know how to get 12V with 5A or 10A if possible because the transformers have less than 5A.
Somebody know how?

You cannot get out more than what the components are rated at, at least, not for long.

Can you borrow a simple battery charger of 5A, this will give the rectified output required.
A car headlight bulb in series with the output will limit the current to a safe value and give an indication of current drawn.

You may not need any capacitors if the deposit will work with pulsed DC.

What is the LM358 for?

Battery charger with 5A ? I never saw, i just found out with 500mA.
The LM358 i saw in one schematic of power supply.
Another idea?

Battery chargers for charging car batteries are normally capable of several amps.

They do not plug into the wall but are made in a separate box, usually with an ammeter. I have a 10A one.

Modern complex chargers often will not turn on unless correctly connected to a battery. You do not want one of these.

Alright, now i understand but for it i'll need to buy one.
I want to know how build a power supply with voltage of my preference.
That way i'll learn and get something.
