Dear members,
I'm looking for a measurement system for the internal current wires
of a personal computer to approximate the power consumption of each
component (e.g. the disk system, cdrom drive...).
Unfortunately my knowledge of electronics/physics is restricted to a minimum.
My first research leads me to some hall sensors, which should make it possible to measure each internal dc wire without the need to unplug any wires, for example something like this: http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3500
Is it possible to to use this kind of sensor for my purpose?
And what else do we need to log the data of multiple sensors with a PC?
Or is the idea of measuring with this hall sensors totally wrong?
I'm looking forward to your opinion.
Best regards,
Timo
