Potentiometers not working? (Stylus organ)

Hi guys I'm new here and around new to electronics.

I have just built a basic stylaphone from a schematic I found online everything is working fine but the potentiometers that are labelled as vibrato and depth dont affect the sound at all

I was unsure about how to wire the potentiometers so this is where my problems could be. I originally connected just one leg and the wiper leaving the other leg un connected and when this didn't work I connected that leg to the wiper

I have also tested the pots with a multi meter and they seem tobe changing resistance when twisting them

Let me know if you need anymore information hope this all makes sense

Thanks!

Hello,

In the schematic the link between the pins 2 and 6 is missing at IC1.
IC2 has the link in the schematic.

Hi Bertus thanks for the reply!

After putting in the link between pins 2 and 6 on IC1 like you suggested I now get no sound at all and after removing the link I still get no sound

Any suggestions?

Looks as though the black and red wires from the speaker aren't connected to anything.
Hi Alec_T

When that photo was taken I was still getting sound it's only since connecting pin 2 and 6 I am no longer getting any sound even when I remove the connection from pin 2 and 6

Any ideas?

Hello,

Is the red wire connected to the resistor?
It looks like they are in different rows.
Do you know how the breadboard rows are connected?

Hi Berus thanks for getting back to me

At the time the photo was taken it was working but with the potentiometers not affecting the circuit at all

My circuit no longer producing sound is a new issue that has happened since taking the photo that I think is due to me blowing some components

I am looking for help as to why the potentiometers wernt affecting the circuit

Thanks again for your help

Hello,

Try to bridge the tone posts for a moment and see if a tone is being produced:

Just connect R5 direct to pin 7 of IC2 as in the drawing.
This is to exclude the posts from the schematic.

Hi bertus I just tried what you recommended but no sound at all

I think I must of blown some components so I will just try and figure that out for the moment

Thanks

Hello,

You could try IC1 on the spot of IC2 and see if some sound comes out.
When no IC1 is plugged in, there should be a constant tone present.

Hello,

As I said in post #8, the board needs some jumpers to connect the power lines:

yes, show an up to date photo so we are all not guessing about missing wires
