POT Cores or Toroidal Core inductors.

Hi Group:
I have a project coming up that's going to require some inductors. (an audio
project)
the value is 4 henrys with a DCR of 250 ohms. No DC required in the winding.
The winding will be tapped for 3 different values along the 4 Henry winding.
I have access to a winder that can do the bobbin style but, to wind the
toroidal
cores I will have to purchase a USED machine and learn to use it. My
question is,
Can I realize the same QUALITY inductor in a POT core as a toroid?
I've just started my web research on this subject and haven't found anything
yet.
I know for a fact that the bobbin wound for pot cores will be easier to
handle with the taps.
I can't use EI cores because of space and shielding issues.
Any recommendations appreciated.

I don't see why not. The question is whether it'll stay that way after
the unit got banged around a bit. Pot cores are by nature not as tough
when it comes to mechanical shock.

Depending on the purpose, it can be easy enough.

The original inductor used by the maker was toroidal.
