I have a project were they remote team is requesting PMAC motors and
sinusoidal drive. Theire reason for this over a brushless DC is that there
is more power avaialbe because the phases at any given moment, all three
phases are connected to Vbus or Gnd. BLDC in Bang-bang mode only appies two
phases at a time and watched the third one for BEMF.
The only difference I know of is the torque ripple in BLCD compared to PMAC
but in this application that wouldn't matter.
Is there any validity to there being more power being avialable from a PMAC
than a BLDC give the same case size and bus voltage?
