pls tell how to control 8 digit calculatOr lcd display?

an eight digit calculator display ...where each eight is made of 7 segments ....will have just 28 input lines...how to obtain different numbers using these lines .? pls help

Actually, you'll find that you are likely to have 16 connections.

7 segments + decimal point (8) + 8 common connections (1 to each digit).
