Please help with screen centering on non-HD Pioneer RPTV

Hi folks,
My SD-A50K (non-HD) Pioneer RPTV display is horizontally off center by
about half an inch. Every repair shops in my area quoted $200 to come
look at it. The service manual is about $120 so I am reluctant to
purchase one. If someone can share his knowledge on how to recenter
the display (either electronically or mechanically) on the non-HD
Pioneers, I would be very much obliged.

Centering may just be mechanical adjustmemts however doing it may upset the
overall convergnece.

There could be one of two causes, one would be that the horizontal PLL lost
it's timing. It is also possible that the sweep is off, either in that it is
impressing DC current on the yokes or the retrace is too fast, in either case
the HOT shouldn't last too long. If it's phasing it needs to be troubleshot all
the way from the feedback point to the reference pulse at the jungle. Let's
hope the problem isn't on the geometry "board". Pioneer does tricky things with
geometry to avoid using a discreet HVOT circuit.

I agree with Art, this is not an adjustment. Anything that'd throw it off that
much should have some kind of effect on the convergence. Also, is the OSD
centered or is it off ?

Now a tech should go into the service menu and see what controls have an
effect, but not just change them and walk away. Use the information to figure
out the next step in a logical troubleshooting procedure. Unless you're going
to do this, stay out of it.
