Please help! DSC Panel locked out. PC1550 V 4.0

M

Malcolm Walls

Does anyone know how to unlock this panel.
Somehow my tech trainee reprogrammed the installer code and doesn't know
what
he put in.
Can anyone help?
The installer lockout is enabled.
Thanks in advance,

If installer lockout is enabled and you dont know the code, your out of
luck.

Ive had this happen to me with a helper and what i actually did was called
into the panel with remote access and reset things that way. Luckely this
helper didnt change the default remote access code, but he did enable it. If
thats not enabled, not sure there is much you can do except possibly take it
back to your distrubtor and say it is damaged when its not (which i dont
suggest doing but its an asshole thing to do if you unethical which ive seen
happen)

We both do ! Action Jackson west of the Manitoba border, and myself, east of
that same border. Links to both are on my website.

That's a toughie... You're going to have to send the board to Jim Rojas.
http://www.tech-man.com... He'll unlock it for you and send it back...
Tried used to provide that service (and may still), but the 1550 is no
longer in production and I'd hate to see your board get "lost"...

No, DSC / Tried no longer provide that service Frank. They stopped some time
ago. And Paradox never did (if I was the cynical type, I might suggest that
is one way to get you to buy additional boards....:)))

Advertisement follows.....

However, when you have workable but locked boards of older vintage that are
no longer in production, it is definately worth the money to have someone
unlock them for service spares ie: DSC 1550, 2550, 3000 etc. And if you're
located in Canada, it can be expensive to send them crossborder what with
exchange and customs (I would imagine)......soooo.....shop in Canada....:))

Hmmmm.... I just took in two 1550's today... They're going to charge me
$20.00 per board...

Interesting ! I am lead to believe that DSC no longer accepts boards back
for unlocking. At least that's the story I get from Tried in the East
here....

Hmmm......well, they have the price right if that is so.....however, next
time take 'em to Action Jackson in Vancouver; he'll likely give you a better
deal...

This panel can be defaulted on site even if locked out

Downpower panel, connect a cable between pgm or zone 1 (can't remember which
one) and the reset jumper, (I can't remember which jumper)
and power up again.

I have donw this twice to the ver 4 panel and it has worked.

It won't work on any other model or ver.

I've done that too and blown the dialer

This method will work some of the time on the version 4 1550's. Most times
it will not work, and other means are called for that require special
equipment. Version 3's and lower use another much easier methodology.....

The process btw, is to power down, run a jumper from pgm 1 to the TOP pin of
the reset jumper for 4 seconds, disconnect and power back up. In a lot of
cases this does clear the lockout, but the installer code has not been
changed. Then sometimes, it will allow you to default as per factory
instructions and proceed from there. But if you connect pgm 1 to the bottom
jumper, you will destroy the board.......

Ironically, the 1550 is the most difficult of all of the DSC panels to crack
into. For those of us that do it, the above way is definately not the best
way, and is really not recommended due to the potential risk to the board
(which often won't show up until you try to connect to the central station).

So if you're going to try this yourself, be prepared to lose a board or two
at worst until you get the hang of it.....

anyone remeber the old way of entering onto a pc 1550??

leave power on the panel put the jumper on the reste pin go at keypad punch
*8 0000 if you have an old version you will be in....

take back th jumper and go check what was the installer code...

done it so many times..it work more often then you think...

Yes, this will pretty much always work with the early version 1550 panels,
and was what I was referring to. It works intermittently with the version
4's. Worth trying though even with the version 4 panels ....

I unlock a great many of these panels and I always try that trick first
before getting into the more elaborate and time consuming way of doing it
with my equipment. Seems to work with about 20% of the version 4's !
However, they seem to have done something during manufacture with all later
boards that changed the board design such that that is no longer a reliable
way to do it (unfortunately...)
