Play a D VD Player through a Guitar amp .

Amp has RCA jacks on it... but when I connect player this way I have no volume control ! When I connect from player to amp input jack then I have volume control ! WHY ?

Probably RCAs are for pre-amp in. So you’d need to use the volume on the Input source, ie MP3 or DVD player.
Where as the amp input jack has it’s own pre-amp and volume control.

Are the RCAs definitely an input? Not for output recording?.

A lot of guitar amp's have an effects send and return facility which will be inserted somewhere in the preamp / tone control stages possibly bypassing the volume control. I suspect this is what you are tapping into.
