Pioneer DV-05 dvd player, no chroma.

D

David Farber

This Pioneer DV-05 dvd player has good audio but a very dark picture. Checking
signal out of the S-Video plug shows good luminance but no chroma. If you use
the composite video out plug, the picture is barely visible. There were some
intermittent connections to the video plugs but resoldering those didn't help.
I don't suppose there is some menu setting that would disable the color is
there? Unless somebody knows of a specific fix for this fault, it's probably
not worth troubleshooting.

Thanks for your reply.

If you had no chroma wouldn't you have a black & white picture with good
brightness?

Graham.

The picture is fairly watchable through the S-Video output. Through the
composite video output, the picture is very dark. I don't know whether the
problems are related or if something else is affecting the composite video out.

Check to see if there is a slide switch in the back that switches between
s-video and component (Y-Pb-Pr). If there is a switch, make sure it is set for
s-video and not component. - Reinhart
