Free plastic toy in the box.
Easier mounting of certain package styles.
Advertising.
Power usage/thermal output.
Speed on certain applications.
What's compatible with your motherboard, ...

It always depends upon what you plan on using your computer for...If all you
do is web based searches and emailing....almost anything will do...If you
are into heavy graphics/cad stuff and file transfers....you will want a
higher end system....google around...you will figure it out

Well note that a Celeron *is* a Pentium first. Just one with fewer 'features'
than the latest 'bleeding edge' full spec Pentium.

The Celeron is the 'L/GL' version whereas the full blown Pentium is the GT
model and is priced accordingly.

Choices might involve cost, power consumption ( esp if mobile - in favour of
Celeron ), whether or not you need that 'bleeding edge' performance or just
need a simple workhorse, motherboard support and any special offers from your
PC vendor that make or the other briefly more attractive. To name a few.
