Peak Detector

I want to measure the peak amplitude of a sound from a microphone ( electret ) using Peak detector. I tried using IC741 and LM1458 but i failed to get the DC output. I am getting sine wave as the output. Please help me , if possible provide me an working circuit diagram which surely helps me a lot.
