Part identification help.

I am looking for what looks like a ceramic, wirewound resistor that
came off the controller board in my threadmill. The item measures
1.375" x .375" x .375" with 2 blade type connectors on the bottom. It
has a symbol which looks like a diamond inside a square followed by
the #s 7W 2K7J. I'm assuming it is a 7watt, 2K ohm. Where can I get
such a part?
Is this part supposed to run too hot to touch? The QC sticker attached
to it turnrd brown from the heat.

Sounds more like 2,7k 7W.
Try local electronic shops.

I've been looking everywhere online and local Rat Shack. Can you
suggest any sources? Thanks again.
BTW, I put the multimeter on the resistor and it shows no reading.

Well, I don't know where you live....try RS Components / Farnell,
maybe the "famous" Radio Shack etc.

Sounds more like 2,7k 7W.
Try local electronic shops.

Also, you should try a higher power dissipation if the one you have
failed due to overheating. Say, ten watts, maybe.

Assuming it is a 2.7K 7 watt resistor, you can get
it from Mouser Electronics.

Order part number 280-CR10-2.7K
That's 10 watts, 2.7K. It'll cost you more for the shipping
than the part. If you have the space, a better approach
is to order two resistors, and put them in series:
280-CR10-1.2K and 280-CR10-1.5K - that'll give you 20
watts.
