part ident request

Hi I'm trying to identify a component with the following identification
Tod
Rts10b the R may be an N its a little unclear (see photo)
it looks like a large black diode but as its used in series with several heat strips to heat some battery cells I would assume it is a thermistor possibly an ntc version
I have performed various google searches without any success
I assume its faulty as it measures o/c and i would have expected some resistance
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

with your description of its use
it could quite well be a thermal cutout ... there may even be a bi-metallic strip inside ?

As a last resort, you could open it up, probably destruct in the process, but may be the only way in the end.
Did you measure on a Diode range rather than normal resistance range, as this can make a difference to the reading.

Yes I have measured on the diode and resistance modes I may have too break open as a last resort im just hoping that someone may recognise the part or number to enable an alternative to be found
