Panasonic PTK-4587S Projector - HV Cutoff

J

Jim Taylor

I have an older Panasonic PTK-4587S projector that is beginning to
exhibit problem of HV cutout.

I have heard that this is a rather common problem and that Panasonic
even has a kit available to repair / modify the shutdown circuit.
Can anyone tell me where I can order this kit?

Thanks,

Kip,

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll give that a try. I hope they don't
give me grief because I don't have the part number.

Now I'm confused. I had heard some time ago that this HV Cutoff
problem was a known issue with this model / chassis, and that
Panasonic had a mod kit to address it. I particularly remember the
precaution that, unless one has accurate HV voltmeter, to remove the
old parts carefully and measure the resistance of the pot(s). I can
only assume that the mod deals with some component variables in the HV
crowbar circuit.

According to Panasonic Parts, they are unable to find any Technical
Bulletins that address this symptom in this set.

"Per our research department we do not have kit for this model.
Do you have a bulletin or supplement that show this information? If so
can you please provide the bulletin or supplement number? This will
help to search further with our Parts Data."

I would appreciate any thoughts as to how I might proceed.

Thanks,

Jim Taylor
