PAL vs NTSC?

Hi all, I have a question about the different frequencis. PAL is 25 lines while NTSC is 35. We know across the pond is 60Hz and Europe is mostly 50Hz. Yet NTSC has 500 frames and PAL has 600. PAL is clearly the better quality. UK is PAL!. Hoorah..
but on a serious note, do they share the same laser and read at the same frequency?.
l would presume not as a DVD unrolled coil of about 5Km to a blu ray of about 7km unrolled. I am just plain curious..

Hello,

When you look at the give page, you will see that PAL has a videobandwidth of 5 Mhz and NTSC 4.2 Mhz.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Your use of lines per frame, frames per second, and overall video bandwidth all are incorrect. Are you asking about the frequency of the laser light used to read a DVD?

I have never seen NTSC beside PAL but if I did then the difference is so small that I probably would not see any difference.
I have a 4k digital TV now and it is much better than antique NTSC or PAL.

In round numbers, a single PAL frame has higher resolution, but NTSC has few motion artifacts because of the higher frame/field rate.
