OKI MSM5562 datasheet anyone?

S

Sergey Kubushyn

Ice Kyocera crystall oscillators, named T-100X but there
is no info on those whatsoever. They are packed in very nice round metal
cases with 6 pins.

I have one of those cut open to find out what it is. It has a nice round
crystal inside and a small ceramic board underneath. On the board there are
2 0805 capacitors for the crystal and bare chip OKI MSM5562 IC.

On that 5562 I can clearly see one pad marked '+' that I assume is VCC. I
can also see another one diagonal from VCC connected to the chip substrate
(the chip's back side) that I assume is GND. It also matches regular DIP
packaging where pin 14 is VCC and pin 7 is GND. Those capacitors are also
connected to that assumed GND that matches standard crystal connection. 4
remaining pins are connected to 5562 other 4 pads.

Googling did not bring much -- besides numerous chinese sites ready to sell
whatever you want (even if it never existed) and happened to have MSM5532
available there was just one link to telescope building site:

http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Board/atm/Number/4893

that mentioned MSM5562 and even has a photo of one on a board. What they
tell is:

=== Cut ===
BTW, that OKI IC is MSM5562, a divide by 65536 clock signal generator.
(pin 1-2 parallel x'tal, 7and8 +5V, 14 Gnd, pin 11 divide-by-65536 output)
=== Cut ===

That generally matches what I see -- if that bare chip had been packed in a
DIP package pins 1-2 would've been parallel crystal, 14-7 would've been
power. All outputs connected to the pins would've been between in pin range
8-13.

The problem is I do NOT think 14 is GND and 7-8 is +5V because a can clearly
see very nice '+" at what should've been pin 14. That is also almost
universal pinout for 14-pin DIP logic package. And chip substrate is almost
always connected to ground as well as load capacitors for the crystal.

To make a long story short the thing did NOT work as I assumed. MSM5562 was
made in 3 voltages -- 1.5V, 3.0V, and 5.0V. It is CMOS and those 1.5V and
3.0V make me think it has been made for 1 or 2-cell lithium battery so it is
supposedly a low-power one.

However the thing draws 80mA at 1.5V, 300mA at 3.0V and 400+mA at 5V and
there is no pulses on any of the outputs, just some steady DC.

It is very simple thing and should work if powered but I'm probably missing
some pin connection or something else.

So here is the question -- does anyone happen to have a datasheet or pinout
for a regular DIP-package OKI MSM5562? Any other information is also
appreciated.

P.S. There is another mention of it in Google results, in some Yaesu
tranceiver manual but there is no schematic there for that "logic board" or
whatever it's called that bears that MSM5562.
