Notifier sfp 1024 Ph 2 Trouble

G

Grumpster

Anyone ever run into this problem?

The system is reporting a Ph 2 trouble and I can't get it to clear.
It is not a problem with the phone line, because I have dial tone at
the panel. The manual does not explain what this trouble is and how
to fix it (at least not that I can find). I have programmed all the
fields for the primary and secondary phone.

Notifier tech support will not help because I am not an authorized
Notifier dealer.

Thanks for your help!

Try reversing the TIP and Ring. Not sure if its like mircom's dialers
which are polarity sensitive.

Low telco line voltage maybe?

I had a similar problem on a residential burg installation with a Telguard
TG-7 cell backup unit. The cell unit kept reporting telco trouble. I had
dial tone at the panel, and all seemed ok, but when I measured the telco
voltage it was 22.5 vdc. (Digital telco line by Cox Cable) The cable company
found the trouble on their side, but I wasn't there when their tech was, so
I don't know what they found. When I went back after their repair, the telco
line voltage was 48.5 vdc and all has been well since.

We had an interesting problem with one of the earlier Tellular units.
It showed line fault as soon as we powered it up. I checked the
phone line and it was within spec. The panel reported fine and
regular phones had no problem. I called the manufacturer and they
asked if we had grounded the cabinet. We had. They said to break
the ground connection. I did. Problem solved.

I assume you are using 2 phone lines. First thing to do is check the phone lines to see if either one uses a 9 to get a outside line. You MUST use 2 lines that either need a 9 or dont need a 9 to get a outside line. They cant be different. After you determine that next thing to do is check the programming to match. If you do need a 9 on both lines then you need to add a 9 before each phone number in the programming. To do this hit mode 7764 from the kp. you should see P1 next hit enter. The next screen is the beginning of the first phone number. if you need a 9 enter it at this point replacing what ever is there. you should see 00 9. NOW the number that you replaced MUST BE ENTERED in the next field. and so on. Field 1 is now field 2,,, field 2 is now field 3,,, field 3 is now field 4 and so on. if you have a manual its described in there. PH 2 starts at field 26 which you have to do the same thing. Hope it helps....

This means that the system failed to communicate on phone line 2. This will only clear when it makes a success full attempt over line 2. only problem is that if line 1 is fine it will never try line 2. U have 2 options. Best option is to power down and up system.which means shutting off maincircuit breaker and unplugging battery. System should power back up with no problems. Or u could unplugg line 1 and set off system. Then wait a couple minutes until line 1 fails and it uses line 2. this takes a while option 1 is fastest.

Notifier SFP-1024

Hi,

I saw your discussion on the Notifier SFP-1024, and am hoping that one of you may be able to help me. I work for a school that has this system installed as our fire alarm communicator. Recently, it became necessary to dial 10 digits rather than 7 digits for local calls. Because of this change, I need to change the 1024's dial out number.

Here is the catch... we don't have the operator's manual. I've contacted the manufacturer, but have received no response. I prefer to not pay an alarm system service call fee for this, but the installing company says that they don't know how to change it, anyway!

Can anyone help?

Many thanks-
TGS
