No sound from Sony DAV S300 Rear Right speaker...worth repairing?

My Sony DAV S300 Surround sound system has recently stopped producing
sound from the right rear channel. I've switched the speaker to
another channel and it works fine, so it must be the right rear
channel output in the back of the system.

Not sure if this is useful info or not, but if I turn the system all
the way up, I can hear sound coming through that channel, just very
low, hardly audible.

Just wondered if anyone here could tell me if this is a fixable
problem, and if it was something I would be able to get repaired for a
decent price (any guesses at a ballpark figure?).

This is serviceable, but you will have to give the set out to a service
centre. Most likely the output IC has failed, or a driver component, or the
power supply to the failed area. The defective parts, and the cause must be
found and serviced in order to make the set work normal again.

Common causes of failure are the user plays the set excessively loud for its
power rating and there is some over heating, the speaker wires are shorted
out (someone messing with the wires or poor connections), a defective
speaker box, poor ventilation and the unit over heats, the user adds too
many speakers thus has too low an impedance loading the unit.
