New Factory Packed Cyrix Type 486 CPU's Cheap!

New Factory Packed Cyrix Type 486 CPU's Cheap!

I have 20,000 pieces of some brand new Cyrix CX486SLC CPU's for sale. These
are actually branded TI, because Cyrix never made their own CPU's. They had
Texas Instruments, ST Micro and IBM actually manufactured the chips. These
are marked Texas Instruments TX486SLC/E-25. These are the same part as the
Cyrix CX486SLC-25 and some other CPU's listed below. Cyrix actually never
even made chips. They just designed them and had other companies foundry
them for them. Via Technologies has since bought the entire comapny. You
might find some around still, but they're all used, pulled from old boards
or in bad shape! These are actually new!

Here are some CPU's these will replace:

IBM -- 486SLC-25
ST Micro -- ST486SLC/E-25
Cyrix -- CX486SLC25
Via Technologies -- CX486SLC-25

Technically they're an enhanced Intel type 386SX chip. They have the same
pin-outs as an Intel NG80386SX. In a way, these are a cross between a 386SX
and a 486SX CPU. Cyrix just added some of the 486 instructions and 16K
internal cache ram neither of which was ever in the 386SX. It's a much
higher performance part than the 386SX. Many industrial applications still
use these economic CPU's, but they don't make them anymore.

If you are interested in buying them in volume, see my page on them at:
http://www.rocktechnology.com/Sale/TX486SLC.htm

I have an auction for small quantities on Ebay. The bid is for one factory
taped and reeled lot of 300 pieces. Bids start at 25¢ per chip, or $75.00
for the lot.

The Intel ceramic-packaged 486 chips make excellent X-acto knife
sharpeners. Don't know about the Cyrix parts.

Are they the slate gre[a]y/blue[don't know how to spell blue in American]
sort of purple ones? Have they got see through bottoms?

Being unoriginal I've often thought about the jewellery aspect of these sort
of things. 20C a pop, bond a mount to the corner to make a dangly thing,
sell em for $10.

Ahhhhh shit, I just had a look at what he's selling.

Ugly fucking things, very un-aesthetic.

It seems we've crossed the magic threshold: Compute power has become so
cheap that you now have to pay to have somebody haul them away.

Cheers!

I made a tie pin out of an 8751 once. Now I work in a machine shop, and
you should see some of the chips they make! I'll try to bother to get a
pic to post. But you could sell inconel chip earrings in Hollywood for
probably an insane amount of money.

Cheers!

I've posted a pic in alt.binaries.schematics.electronic of some machine
tool chips, subject: "OT:Metal Chips for Jewelry". I don't know if it's
necessary to say, I've given up on vacuuming my rug.

Cheers!

Well, try brushing your teeth instead.

I know it's unfair, but you posted your face.

No, it's fair. Sigh. It doesn't matter how aggressively I brush them; I
was born with brown teeth.

Thanks,

There's a lot of folks in your neck of the woods what make jewellery
on CNC machines. Body jewellery kind of stuff- little barbells and so
on. They probably use stainless mostly, though some people have a
nasty nickel allergy.

It needs courage to post a contemporary pic, yellow teeth included. And you
have of course pressed the right buttons, but then he was also showing off
with these girls. I forgot to save the pics and now they are gone on my
server, because of these megabyte computer pics. Too funny.

Long ago I knew this girl who had 'less than white' teeth. Her mom took
an antibiotic when she was pregnant, and that caused her daughter to
have dull white teeth. Some of us older folk were born before
antibiotics became widely availabiel and their teeth are nice and white.

This is why tetracycline is not to be used by minors or pregnant women.
It does stain the bones and teeth. It seems that tetracycline is used for
many forms of dermatitis, which is a problem for both minors and those who
might become pregnant.

Another thing that seems to have taken off lately is the tooth bleach
kits that you can put on for so many hours, or overnight(?) They must
have been recently approved by some gov't body, or ? Seems like every
dentist has a sign in the window that is trying to peddle this
procedure.

Err, how do you square this with the fact that the teeth one is born with
only last several years, until the adult set grows in?

The adult set is developing beneath the gums at the time.

From what I see as the result of a quick Googling, it seems that
tetracycline staining of the teeth can occur as the result of the
mother's taking tetracycline during the latter half of pregnancy.

The permanent teeth are forming at that time (although they don't
erupt from the gums until after the deciduous teeth are lost).

Tetracycline seems to be contra-indicated for pregnant women,
breast-feeding women, and children under 12, for this reason.

Yeah, I have a nasty nickel allergy. Anytime I put on any jewelry with any
nickel whatsoever in it, I break out in a terrible rash. Looks like
millions of tiny zits covering the affected area. Then later I can squeeze
puss out of the whole big whelp that it leaves. Really a bad thing. I've
heard from someone that has the same allergy, that their doctor told them
that it was caused by allowing certain cutting fluids to be on your skin for
too long. I used to work in a machine shop as well.

I dunno - that was ten or fifteen years ago. Most of them were actresses,
so they're probably married or hooking by now, but Gigi, who did street
performing as a fire-breather, burned her face almost off in a horrible
accident. I was sitting in church one morning and yet another young lady
who was friends with us all came in and told me that Gigi had had a
terrible accident and was in the hospital, but was expected to live.

About two or three years later, she showed up on the show "How'd They
Do That", which was a whole hour long show about reconstructive surgery.
By that time I had kind of moved on, and wasn't hanging out with the
same gang. Sigh.

Gigi's the one on my immediate right in this pic. It kind of looks like
I'm trying to see down her cleavage:
http://www.neodruid.org/images/Me+Gals1.jpg
The blond-haired lady to my immediate left, laughing, wearing a blue
shirt, whose name I misfortunately don't remember, told me about the
time she read for a part in Star Trek:The Next Generation. She was
trying out for a "Barbie Nude" (a flesh-colored full body suit) part
on Raisa. She said that she had met Johnathan Frakes, and, in her
words, "He's just a love."

Sigh. Those were the days.

Thanks,
Rich
