Depending on how they were cut.. ie multiple cut with a conductive tool.. it may have shorted something out. Do you have a multi-meter? Have you any electronics experience?
I do see burn marks under one of the boards.
And I believe the adapter was cut?
It had two red wires going in and two yellow coming out.
I put them back together and checked it with my meter.
I was getting power on the Reds but not the yellow , so I tried connecting the red to the yellow. And now the board is getting power. But I still can't turn it on.

Ok Ok I am going to ask, have you checked for any blown fuses? I guess you have. When was it last working? Has it been stored for a long time, anyone drop it by accident?

We'd probably have to look at it. My first guess with 2 yellow wires and 2 red wires, is that somebody may have cut-out a transformer.
Are there a couple of screw-holes in the area? Where a transformer might have been mounted?
Don't go willy-nilly connecting those wires to a wall socket or you might destroy the player.
Are you able to post a picture of what you have there?

OK the only sort of useful pic is the circuit board one ... the other 2 are just too blurry
post the circuit board one again a bit closer up and much sharper
and also post a pic of the other side of the circuit board and again a sharp pic
if you look at the pic you take and cannot read the component values don't post it
try taking more pics till you get one that is readable, then post it
ohhh and a sharper version of the pic of those cut wires

Can't tell much from what we can see, but it looks like your power transformer is still there, that's good. The bad part is that you mentioned burn marks under one of the boards. You'll probably be able to see a damaged
electronic component or components on the board directly above the burn marks (or at least ones showing signs of excessive heat).
I'm wondering if your two red wires were connected to some lighting device for your fancy cabinet, that somebody removed.
I can't tell from your third picture if the transformer (with two red wires), was then connected to the two yellow wires of the nearby circuit board.
Having worked in TV & radio repair shops years ago, I'll offer speculation here: Something on the 'burn-mark' board died and the unit stopped working. Somebody decided that a light or other decorative device looked nice,
and cut it out of the unit to use elsewhere. We'll need more pictures (clear), to narrow this down. But I THINK your primary problem is going to be the 'burn-marked' board, and the open yellow and red wires are a peripheral
problem that will be easily sorted-out. Don't give-up on this yet.
