Need advise on controlling the speed of a drill motor.

Hello, i'm looking for some advise on a project im starting, I need to control the speed of a power drill with a dial speed controller. I plan on simply replacing the trigger on the drill with a dial speed controller.

The drill I plan on using is:

The speed controller I was looking at using is:

Any advise would be great!

Thanks, Ash.

You might be better off getting a "router speed control" or "tool speed control" they are made just for this application...

I have been searching in vain to fine such a thing in the UK.

And sorry should have mentioned i'll be using UK mains as im in the UK :)

The drill you show has a speed control, 0 to 2800 rpm, so you do not need an external control.

With powers such as this, a triac light dimmer will do. These come in a fitting for a standard box so the thing can be made safe.

I know that the trigger will of the power drill will control the speed of the rpm I need to control it with a dial control so It can be left on a set speed and adjusted easily.

The drill looks to have a knob to adjust the speed on the trigger. I have a drill with a speed control like this and will do what you want.

Have you bought the drill and investigated the control?

Here is a picture of my drill which looks similar to yours (B&D KD355CRE).
It has a twiddle knob as you require.
