Napco PCI Mini

I would like to monitor my Napco P3200 panel using a PCI Mini connected to
the serial port of my computer. The cable that comes with the PCI Mini is
quite short. I tried a test cable that was 166 feet made with CAT5, but it
would not work. Any ideas how long the cable can be?

Try running the serial cable 166 feet long, and leave the PCI MINI at the
panel.

The output from the panel is compatible with a computer, that is what the
PCI-Mini is designed for. It works with a shorter cable. It does not require
any home automation chip, just the Napco QuickLoader software. I'll keep
working with it. Thanks for your reply.

Now that's a thought, I'll try it. (after I purchase the proper connectors)

I have used a cat 5 link with appropriate jumper cables upto about 75'.

It is a low poer serial rs232 connection.

Make sure you get you pinouts correct or you WILL damage your panel.
