multiple 240v powered lights

im a total beginner and am wondering what resistance etc i need to set
up 3 lights off of a single circuit. I'm looking at 125 watt 240v
bulbs.

I'm trying to create hanging down lights like this:
____________
| | | | x=power supply
| | | | O= light fixtures
| | | | _= cabling
| O O O
|
x

can i run a single lead along the top and splice multiple other cables
into it? or should i run 3 separate cables to the top left corner and
splice them together there? If so do i need some form of resistance or
can you just hook 3 together without any effect on brightness etc?

I'm inclined to say that if you need to ask something this basic, you shouldn't
be playing with electricity at all.

in one single wire POWER here will be 425 watts worth of power and that is a lot. from the source run 2 wires at least 14 gauge to the lites.
