Motorola O/P transistors replacement and some basic questions

ed

Hi,
Grateful if an expert can help-please bear with me... i have a few
questions.I am looking to substitute 2 Motorola output transistors in
an audio amp(25w)-BD 609,BD610(Plastic package). Found 2 subs from ST
Micro-BD 909, BD910. Went to my local shops-these are not available
and they are not sure if these are imported in the country( they will
check).Meantime ..... Can a kind person go to this site
http://www.bel-india.com/Website/StaticAsp/prod_semi1.htm
,download/see 2 pdf files(they r small-plastic and metal packages) and
see if any of those transistors in those 2 files are compatible, with
what little info is there in the spec sheet(i will take the risk even
if they maybe marginally compatible).Sorry, i don't have Motorola
Specs(i can't find the specs for the ST transistors-i had got them
from an UK site called anglia or something).
Also, any of those are compatible with these below:(if i cant repair
my amp. i may build one from Elliott Sound
Products-http://sound.westhost.com/project03.htm#7dec)
Power - NPN - MJE3055, TIP3055 or 2N3055 (TO-3)
Power - PNP - MJE2955, TIP2955 or MJ2955 (TO-3)

....what do u substitute a wirewound resistor(located near those output
transistors) with?Shops over here don't don't stock them.Shopkeeper
was ranting something about using fusible resistor with a wattage
rating....
.....in this project http://sound.westhost.com/project03.htm#7dec...The
ground is connected to the chassis?

Thanks.(thanks go out to J. Doe who helped me choose a subs. diode
yesterday)

[Replacement for BD609/610]

You may use TIP41/42B if load impedance is 8 ohms or more.

Dieter

Thanks!Thanks ,Dieter!
A small clarification please....TIP41 or TIP41B

And for those of Eliott products Transistors.....I intend to build 1
channel without the PCB(i will use a board and wires)...just for
experimentation(my first DIY project).....Hope u will respond.
Thanks again

I believe I mentioned this before, but here it is again. www.nteinc.com.

In addition to power transistors, they also have wirewound resistors.

The printed catalog shows NTE 331 and 332.

Ugly design and your vendor does not have fitting transistors.

Thanks again Dieter.Shame there are no subs from bel website.Your
comment about the lousy design -is there a better one where u could
point me to?It should have few components(bec. i am not sure about
drilling holes with a 1mm HSS drill and will connect the components
with wires).

Thanks watson.
Re wire wound resistor(near the power O/P transistors)- shop in
another city has them .one which is open is,i assume 4.7 Ohms(R47 10
is what i can see-it/they are discoloured).
Will it be ok if i put a 5 Ohm one or should i change all four with 5
Ohm ones? The shop might not have a 4.7 Ohm one.
