Monitor repair help.

Thank for for reading this.
I have had a interest in electronics for a bit now but nothing as high
voltage as tvs, monitors. i have a vauge idea how they work and but
just been given 30 19" and 15 21" monitors thats broken.
Ive checked some of them and got them working with dry joints and
replacing a hot in a couple that was smoked out.

But i have 5 compaq s900 monitors that dont have raster. it acts as
normal but without any picture.

like i said im not 100% with tvs / monitors and want to know how to
track down a prolem like i have and fix it.

Im wanting to know how to test Lopts and hots for if they are workimng
or not. also where to test on a monitor board without frying myself.

If anyone can give me a little breakdown where to start and finish i
would be greatful also how to test transformers correctly.

Scan thru this newsgroup for references to Sam "G" excellent site for
electronics repair. He has a whole lot of very usable information. Also
maybe a Google search. Also posted in this n/g are references to sources for
available schematics for monitors.

I'd get the service manual first. It's really worth those $10-12.
