making an LED blink

I am thinking of building a 'fake' camera, and want to have a red LED to blink on/off....Frequency of blinking is not critical..Is there a simple method of doing this?

yup

buy a blinking LED, most electronics parts suppliers should have them
so a ~ 9V power supply ( 9V battery would/ should last a long while ( months I would expect)) and a current limiting resistor ~ 1k Ohms
