Making a stepper motor reverse after moving forward

I am build the curcuit to make the stepper motor move i use oscillator the generate the pluse, than the pluse to D-type flip flop to use that signal to drive the stepper motor move foeward(clockwise) successly , what should i do if i want to let the stepper motor after move forward than move reverse. Is it need to add the logic gate after the flip flop? THX
