Magnavox 25 inch TV Model RR2540A104 was dead.
Found F401 open along with a bad B+ filter capacitor C432 (100UFd @ 200Vdc).
The capacitor going bad caused the unit to burn open two traces. C431
(3.3Ufd @ 200Vdc) was replaced due to high ESR (20). I also resoldered the
Horizontal drive transformer and other suspicious looking solder joints in
the B+ area.
This TV along with other junk was left in the townhouse my son bought. I
told him not to throw anything away that looked repairable. So far we got a
VCR, TV and a lawnmower repaired for less than a few dollars each.
ONE MAN's JUNK is ANOTHER MAN's JEWELS.
I have only bought one TV in my life and that was 1981. All my stereo
equipment is free stuff, including the McIntosh tube pre-amp and tube power
amp.
