looking for Philips DVD recorder remote

Does anyone here know if all Philips DVD recorders use the same remote
codes? I'm trying to find a cheap replacement for a DVDR-1000. I see
lots of remotes for other Philips models for reasonable prices, but
not this model. No universal remote I've tried will operate it. I
e-mailed Phillips customer service, but they just sent me a canned
reply with the number to call to order a new remote from them. I
don't think the remote for this model is still available, even from
Philips.

If anyone has a remote left over from a junked unit, I might be
interested in buying it.

Try your local GoodWill or Salvation Army thrift store. Also try the
pawn shops. I found a remote in great condition for my 20 Year old TV
for just $1.99 at the Seattle GoodWill.

I took a chance on a remote for a DVDR-985 and it seems to work fine
with the DVDR-1000. My next question is does anyone know how to
unlock the control panel? Everything responds from the remote, but it
just beeps when you press any of the buttons on the DVD player.
There's no mention of this feature in the manual, but it's acting just
like it would if the controls were locked.
