Looking for a data sheet on this transistor ? from a ultrasonic cleaner powersupply

Hello,

I am trying to find the data sheet / replacement part # for this *edit* transistor ? well I think its a transistor.
Its marked LL 38 B, it's from the power supply in a Ultrasonic cleaner . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, at least the Base and Emitter connections are marked. Do you have any that more or less still work, i.e., the emitter-base and base-collector junctions measure okay? Maybe if you knew whether it was a PNP or NPN bi-polar junction power transistor you could try to find a substitute. Is there a schematic available for the ultrasonic cleaner, or can you trace one out (reverse engineering this is called)? The numbers marked on the device are probably lot numbers or refer to proprietary part numbers assigned to an ordinary commercial part. It may or may not have undergone special testing to pass specifications for its particular application in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Hi Natem600
welcome to Electronics Point :)

The numbers marked on the device are probably lot numbers or refer to proprietary part numbers assigned to an ordinary commercial part.

^^ I agree with this

and yes, unless you have a schematic or you spend time tracing out the circuit, then there's probably no way to figure out a suitable replacement

cheers

Some ultrasonic cleaners use the now obsolete SJ9089A. It's alternative appears to be an MJ16018. If that's of any help.
