Lombardini small diesel, opinions?

Interested in opinons regarding quality of Lombardini small diesels, air and
water cooled.

The following models are under consideration:
15 LD 400 (air cooled single cylinder, 10 hp @3600)
LDW 502 (water cooled 2 cylinder, 9.9 HP @3600)
The LD 400 will operate down to 1400 rpm, the LDW 502 down to 1200 rpm.
The genset would have two rpm operating points, say 1300 & 2500.

These engines are being considered for a low-rpm, low output, long MTBF
generator combined with a DC alternator.

Someone is telling me that these engines are superior to the Yanmars.

Having extensive experience over 25 years with small diesels, comparing a
Lombardini to a Yanmar is like comparing a Mack truck to a Pinto.
Give me the Yanmar every time.
Lombardini have their place, I am just struggling to find where there place
is.

There are also Lombardini built in India by Greaves Lombardini - they are
*DISGUSTING*
Look to Hatz or the horizontal Kubota or Yanmar - importantly correctly rate
them to your needs. DONT rely on a dealer to do it, do your own homework.
