Locating hidden 24v dc Relays.

Hello,
I have some 24 volt dc relays hidden behind difficult to remove panelling. Does any body know of an inexpensive tool that will locate their positions, rather like that used to locate mains ac wiring? I can hear the relays working, but cannot locate them by sound.

A tone generator and probe/tracer/tracker might work for you. I think you can get them for about $20 or less these days. Much less if you want to invest in cheap Chinese products.

EDIT: I'm assuming you can access the lead wires to the relays' coils, or to the contacts.

Thank you for that. Access to a lead wire is a little difficult but if I cannot find something that will pick directly up on the relay, I will take up your suggestion.

A pocket compass might work. The needle would swing when the relay coil is energised/de-energised.
