I am working on a project in which I use battery (lipo) powered light spots.
in this setup, I get electricity supply from the city lights which is active between 16hs and 08hs. The lights are turned in colours between 16hs and 23hs hours, and afterwards they remain on but display no colours. This means that when they are displaying colors they are getting electricity from the mains, and between 23hs and 08hs the are being charged. Between 08hs and 16hs they get no more electricity and remain in stand by being supplied from the batteries.
The temperatures in the location where they are located (could) oscilate between -20 and 10ºc.
of course I understand that the performance of the batteries depends on the batteries capabilities which I cannot share at this moment simply because I dont know it.
The question is, do cold temperatures affect the performance of the batteries? and most importantly, are batteries permantly damaged when exposed to low temperatures?
I will be doing some tests outdoors, but I am interested in the knowledge you can share on these regards.
thanks in advance!
