Li-Po Battery protection circuitry placement

Hi,
I am using Li-po battery as shown in the attachment. It already has a protection circuit, which is wrapped in yellow tape. So to reduce the size of the battery can I put the protection circuitry on my PCB with the rest of circuit and fold the battery terminals?
Would this folding cause any kind of damage to the battery or not?
Also, what is the recommended placement of the protection circuitry, either on your own PCB or on the separate PCB attached to the battery (as they already have)?

Thanks.

I would tend to leave as it is, however, it may not be a protection circuit as you believe.
May be just a termination board.

What if it has a thermal sensor... would be good to have that where the battery is.

Found some infos, here is a datasheet some merchants provide for the same pictured product and the IC on the protection board doesn't have temperature sensing.

Yes you can move that board and fold the battery terminals but take care to keep them insulated from the foil.

It's recommended to keep the unit intact as they have to have done a certain amount of testing for structural integrity and different boards are needed for different battery capacities. If you're doing your own custom design and control all parameters, you could put the circuit on a separate board, but again you're then limited to a small range of similar batteries, plus mechanically if a wire were to come off, better for that to happen before the protection circuit rather than after and it ends up shorting the battery.

It should be located very close to batteries since it's for their protection. You can much easier buy smaller battery. 1S batteries are widely available for every single size.
