LED downlight from 12volt battery

Trying to figure out how to power a couple of LED down lights from a 12 volt lead acid battery.

Want to use a couple of standard LED down lights but replace the mains powered driver with a 12 volt lead acid battery.

Will this work OK?

It depends on what the original 12V power supply is.

If it is just a 12V supply, then replacing it with a battery should be fine (that means there is a controller in the lamp itself)

As a very rough guide, if you can connect several lights in parallel from the original source, the battery should work fine.

If you connect them in series, the battery will not work.

If you only connect one to the power supply, it's a coin toss.

The down lights are normal down lights that have a dedicated LED driver module that has a 240 volt AC input and a 12volt output.

I want to discard the LED driver module and replace it with a 12 volt lead acid battery. (An automotive starting battery)

well sounds like you cant discard the driver module .... you need it
you have 2 options

1) --- modify the existing driver module by working out where the mains voltage gets dropped and regulated to 12VDC ( it will be before the driver stage)

2) -- you will have to build your own driver module(s)
