LCD Projector

Good Afternoon,

I have a NEC LT260 LCD projector that in the past has "overheated"

Currently it works EXCEPT all the colors are off and everything has a green tint, fairly severe.

Any troubleshooting thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

David

Display a test pattern and determine if red and blue are weak, or if they look greenish.

If they look greenish, you may have had some magic smoke leave a greenish layer on a lens.

If there is no green tinge on red or blue then you may be able to find colour adjustments that vary the gain on each channel. Turning down the green (or the red and blue up) may be a solution.

Hi David,

is this a DLP type projector or one with a split lightpath going through a prism and 3 individual LCD panels .. one for each colour, red, green, blue.

I used to repair these things all day every day for another company and a common problem caused by overheating was damage to 1 or more of the LCD panels wich would result in green/red or blue colour tinge.
The overheating was normally caused by a unit well blocked up with dust in the filters and around the 3 LCD panels.
The only way to get rid of the colour tinge was to replace the faulty LCD panel.

What did you mean by ... "all the colors are off " ? offcentre ? as in out of alignment ?

Dave
