laptop lid making bad contact?

hi, have a toshiba lap top and the screen makes a bad contact and goes
funny when the lid is opened in certain positions. it's a toshiba satelite
S35 DVD. (model no P530DE-1CCL3-EN)

is there any way to solve what might be just a bad contact on the lid,
please?

More likely to be the screen's ribbon cable is faulty.

I'm not sure how much this item costs but last time I checked the one
for a Compaq laptop i had was $85 .

If you're careful and handy, you can patch the ribbon cable. Get some
similar ribbon and solder it in at both ends (about 1/2" from connectors).
Join it to the old ribbon and heat shrink each joint. Takes about an hour
but saves $85.
