Lampholders

Group:

I've got some table lamps with switched white plastic lampholders.

They're currently fitted with UK-style bayonet fittings (B22d socket with
0.5" threaded fitting to the lampbase) and I want to change them over to
US-style Edison-screw (E26) type fittings.

However, I really need to keep the style of the lampholder the same. I've
been looking for white plastic push switch lampholders everywhere and can't
find them. Any suggestions as the where I can get them in So Calif?

Alternatively, if I were to but the European-style Edison-screw (E27)
switched lampholder, would a US E26 bulb fit ... I know that the specs are
similar, but I don't know *how* similar?

Thanks for this ... but it's not what I want. I emigrated from the UK to
the US last year (I still have things in boxes!), and I want to convert my
UK table lamps. It seems that the only fittings I can get are metal (which
I don't want) or black plastic (which I will accept if I have to). I
wondered about using a bayonet to ES adaptor, but only if the US ES bulbs
(E26) can be fitted into a European ES socket (E27). Hey ho!

Craft stores may have them. Just a wild guess.
If not, get black ones and paint them.

Good point about the shades and bulkiness of the adaptors .... I've found a
local source of BC 130V lamps so I'm going to go and buy some. At $5 a pop
for a basic lamp that's about 10 times the price of a standard US ES bulb!
But beggars can't be choosers!

Thanks to all for your help.
