Is anyone interested is calling an end user to assist them in purchase
kantech access control cards?

Jim, I'm looking for someone local...there's more to it than the cards...
Thanks.

Since ADT bought DSC (Kantech), they have become a distributor for
Kantech access control. I think the closest ADT offices would be
either Hayward or Sacramento. Just have the customer call
1-800-ADT-ASAP and they can tell them which office takes care of that
area by the zip code. Then just have them schedule an ADT national
account or core commercial rep to look at the application.

Tyco bought DSC..
Not ADT

in fact ADT here in montreal dont even use any DSC or KANTECH product at all

(i know i have friends in the union that work there...)

the technical support for KANTECH was on the south shore of montreal before
the buyout..
it moved to boston and now they are back to the south shore again...(took
some times to Tyco to figure out that the best people to give support for a
product is the poeple that designed it..)

I work with KANTECH product every day..pretty good software..lot of goodies
for the customer and a lot of option so the systems are easily customise to
the the client need...

if anyone been playing with Northern computer stuff you would not give a
chance to NCI stuff after working with Kantech product...

i am certifyed on the Prowatch, winpack 1,2,pro...and i hate those...

i have a place with 30000 + card in the system and if i reload a controler
its done in less then a minute with Kantech
with a NCI controler your talking about 1 hour...

Mr. Sloud,

ADT did not buy DSC, Tyco did. My question is which company will be sold by
Tyco first, ADT or DSC?

Further, my understanding is that now ADT sells and installs Kantech but
does not distribute it. Many other companies in CA I am sure sell and
install Kantech products.

Geesh, what's wrong with you people? The original poster asked for a
company who could install a Kantech job for an end-user. I just gave
a solution.

Nobody said anything about Canada. The original poster asked about an
end-user in California. Kantech is to become ADT's primary access
control vendor at least in the US. DSC panels are currently being
used exclusively for small business applications.

They're easily distracted... It's a trait common to most primates... :)

Yes, you are right, you did provide a solution.

I am just a little tired of people waving the ADT name in the air like it
actually means anything anymore. You are part of the old guard at ADT who
remember when it was one of the best alarm companies in the market. From my
perspective, ADT has become a name without substance.

When I was an ADT dealer, I was initially proud of my ability to use the ADT
name. I was then instructed to con people into "giving alarms away" by my
ADT handlers (bogus hiring ads). I was told to use 'all in one Lynx's to
ensure that I could install enough in a day to meet my sales targets. There
was no quality control or inspections made once the system was installed. I
left ADT because I could not maintain my sales quotas, my head sales guy
(partner) was allowed to start his own dealership and left me without a
sales team for one month.

I watch the market in my area get worse every day. Customers tell me that I
am the fifth or seventh alarm guy at their door. All the ones before me
were ADT. (Not ADT, dealers)

The current offering by some of these dealers is: 10 hard wired contacts,
two motions, two LCD keypads, garage door opener installation and dishwasher
installation (new homes) all for $24.95, (90 day warranty) with a three
year ADT contract.

I know what the dealer gets paid, I know how much the parts cost and I can
guess he makes just under $150.00 per system installed if he uses very low
paid installation staff.

I just get sick of hearing how good ADT is or who they recently bought etc.
They at one time were an admirable competitor to many who lead the market in
quality and technology. When you lower your standards to that of your worst
competitor, you eventually earn their reputation as well.

Sorry about my rant Mr. Sloud. You just pushed a button when you said ADT
purchased DSC. The only people I talk to who are proud of that merger are
people from ADT. Many people at DSC tell me, thank god Tyco bought us and
not those idiots at ADT or comments to that effect.

I truly believe that with the incredible attrition rates that I have seen,
the horrendous service stories that I have heard in my area, ADT will
eventually fail if they don't make some drastic changes. I don't think that
even their commercial divisions will be able to save them.
