Brilliant, That first photo!

He keeps his home bench relatively tidy. It's his bench at
Linear Technolgy (see the cover photo on his Analog Circuit
Design Book) that really sets the standard.

One of the greatest of our time. Too bad he had to be featured on
National Pravda Radio.

Pictures sure turned out good, for radio.

I don't imagine there was a lot of competition.

OK, who has better news on the radio? NPR gives lots of time to the right wing
voice, they have people from the Heritage Foundation all the time.

One of the greatest of our time.

Why?

Sure he gets a *lot* of press, and he's a good board level applications
engineer, but this this doesn't mean he is "one of the greatest". Its
that meme thing again, just because someone is well known, it doesn't
mean that that recognition has came about because of exceptional
abilities. I am certainly not deriding Jims talents, but the reality
truly is, is that he is well known simply because he publishes a lot.
This is more a matter of being in the right place at the right time then
evidence of exceptional ability.

Now for the flames...

Looks like he collaborated with Fred B on design #4 :)

Looks like the student has surpassed the master :)

Benches too have some similarity. At least had when I was much younger. I
tend now to be a bit more organized (put all those components into more than
2 boxes) because of SMDs and it's much less fun when people see my bench.

The front cover of that (1990) "Art science and personalities" book had a
photo that I scarily thought was that of my own bench. Who'd taken the
picture?, when?, what about my copyright?. Took a minute of examination to
realise the crisp packet was American.
Of course, I just had to buy the book!.
