there are so many out there, It's hard to say..
for example.
go to mouser.com and do a search there for

"LDO"

Brew your own with a low saturation voltage device operated in collector output
mode and you'll get pretty fine performance.

Sure, brew your own and when you're done spending all the wasted hours
and money.
You can then simply get your self an IC for which exist so many that
it boggles the mind for pennies on the dollar..

And you call your self a what now?

FWIW I see a lot of LM1117 variants, eg LD1117, AP1117, etc. Then
there are the higher current types such as LT1084/1085.
