Isolating Multiple Power Sources

I am building a fairly simple micro controller circuit that reads a couple sensors and passes the information along. But I want to be able to power the system VIA 9v Battery or 9-24v via a wall outlet. I know this can be done just using a couple of diodes but I was hoping there was a more elegant solution out there.

I was looking into the Si4700DY but apparently they are obsolete.

Doe anyone consider the 2 Diode method to be sloppy design? Or is this one of those occasions where simpler is better?

How about the solutions offered here?

Note that Im in no way associated with LTC. Other manufavturers like TI, Maxim, Analog Devices etc. may offer similar solutions.
