what data sheet? the first sheet i picked from the above link shows an
aux input which will accept a 694mV p-p nominal input at the 0dB gain
setting which is 3dB below clipping.
the max sample rate is 8kHz so i wouldn't expect to be able to record
anything much higher than voice frequency. that might be why your
recordings sound crappy. especially if the sample rate is set lower. you
could also be holding the mic too close to a loud source. FYI, if you
talk on a 2-way radio, keep your mouth away from the thing. too many
people shout into radios and it sounds crappy.
i'd just run the line out of my sound card into the aux in thru a volume
control, making sure not to exceed the input spec.
